Christenings/Baptisms

Anyone can get in touch with a church to find out about having their child christened.  During a christening your child will be baptised with water.

It is the start of an amazing journey for your child and a special day for family and friends.

Essentially when you are baptised you are made a member of the church and parent and god parents make promises to bring the child up in church.

Getting baptised in the Parish.
If you live in the parish of the Walton Team Ministry your child can be baptised in any of the three churches here.

Godparents
It is standard to have three godparents.  For a girl this should be two females and one male, for a boy this should be two males and one female.  If you would like to have more godparents than this, that is fine, but the baptism register only has room for three names so the first three names on your form will be included in the register.

Booking a christening/baptism.

We ask parents to attend the church where they would like the baptism to take place and see the clergy or a warden after the service to arrange the booking.
